Yesterday morning I pulled the laptop apart again to repair the power jack. This was about the 3rd time I have repaired the computer for the same thing. This is not an easy job since EVERYTHING has to come out before the motherboard.
If I were still working my electronics job I would take into work and repair it right the first time. I needed to take it apart anyway to clean the dust out of the CPU cooling unit because it has been running a little hotter lately. It’s up and running again. I’m thinking I need to find a donor computer or at least pickup another motherboard. If anyone has a Dell Inspiron 1100 they would like to donate let me know.

Yeah I know, I just find it a challenge to see how many times I can rebuild this thing. The hard drive is on its way out and the battery doesn’t hold much of a charge anymore but what the heck…it serves its purpose.

ReplyDeleteYeah, but that all depends on the "Purpose"-does it mean spending time ripping the thing apart all the time? I just got a new laptop, with tons of bells and whistles, REAL cheap.
Take the old 1100 out into the desert and bury it!
Or, bring it over to my house and we'll shoot it! That would be fun. And, take plenty of pictures!!
