Our New House

It was brought to my attention that we haven’t updated our Blog since 2013. Since we have become stagnant and haven’t really traveled for a while I didn’t have much of interest to post. Not that our life isn’t interesting, there just isn’t much RV Travel going on.

Well recently we have turned another page in our lives. We decided since we like our lifestyle so much that buying a house wasn’t in our plans. However we have pretty much outgrown the RV so…

We bought a Park Model home in the same resort where we have lived for the last 11 years in the motor home. If you are not familiar with a Park Model, it is a small 400 square foot manufactured home. Ours however is a bit more than a simple park model. First off ours is set in the ground so it is ground level, then a 200 square foot addition was added making it 600 square foot overall and the whole thing is stuccoed and the roof is tiled. There is also a 117 square foot building on the property, which serves as a laundry room and a shop. This building is attached to the house by a covered patio with outdoor kitchen. Along with the real residential appliances they topped it off with an air conditioner that can turn the house into a meat locker in the 120-degree Arizona summers. You can see more photos by clicking on the link in the left column.

I have added a link to the photos of our house HERE.

So, although we are keeping the motor home, it looks like we are not Fulltimers anymore.

Best wishes to all our readers and I hope your travels are as enjoyable as ours.

I will leave the Blog up because I know others enjoy reading about our travels.

California Rocks

We met a couple while here in Buellton that live in the park and have a small business they call California Rocks. They paint rocks! They are very talented and could make a very good living at what they do but they chose to live a modest life. They refuse to go big with their talent and only charge $10 to $40 for each piece. They say they only make enough to pay for food. They say they have been living in the park for about 2 years. When I mentioned I couldn’t stay put that long they said they wanted to move on several times but the park wouldn’t let them. You see, they have also painted all the signs in the park with the same whimsical style and have done murals in the office and clubhouse too. Nice job. If anyone is interested I have their phone number. I’m sure you could send them a photo of your favorite car or RV and they will paint you one.

Tomorrow we will be heading up the road again. We actually wanted to stay longer but don’t want to pay the weekend rates. I asked if they would convert us to their weekly rate if we stayed and they said no. So instead of making a few more bucks on us they get nothing. What kind of business is that?

Dan, we stay at Flying Flags on a regular basis, but we never pay for full hook ups. We park in the field for $20/nite and enjoy the extra space of having no around us. We use our generator if we need to without bothering anyone. We have several of the painted rocks, which were actually just given to us. We had them paint a sign for my husband's business using a photo of his bright yellow '57 Chevy.

Try the field next time, as long as it's not a holiday weekend or in the middle of summer you should have lots of privacy.

  2. Yes Tara, Carl and Susan did say they give a lot of their rocks away. They like to go over to the Albertson’s grocery store and find someone that is having a bad day and give them a rock to cheer them up. Real nice folks.
